Itinerary Description
Your day begins with pick-up from your hotel and a visit to the village of Ano Vouves to admire the Oldest Olive Tree in the World, estimated to be over 3,000 years old. This natural monument still bears fruit and is a living symbol of Cretan heritage.
We then head to the village of Perivolakia for an authentic countryside experience:
- Visit to a traditional bakery to watch the making of rusks and local breads
- Walk through an olive grove and learn about Cretan honey production
- Guided tour of a multi-awarded cheese factory, with a detailed explanation of the process (if not in production), followed by a local tasting platter with olive oil, tomatoes, cheese, honey, and olives
The day concludes with a stop at Pnevmatikakis Winery in Kissamos – a family-owned winery with a strong presence in Cretan viticulture. You’ll learn about the wine-making process and enjoy tastings of multiple wine varieties, paired with local delicacies. Children are served a special platter and drink selection designed by the winery.
